Happy Humpday Haiku #14
That Moment
Reminding myself
The students are five
years old
When I lose patience.
Aside
from the three Americanos I drink throughout the day, this is the only thing
that gets me through a frustrating day of teaching. Some days it works
miracles. I am confronted with the fact and my investment in the situation
shifts to an appropriate perspective. Other days I repeat this to myself to no
avail. Granted, this is not every day, or even every week. But I’ve come to the
conclusion that this sentiment is invariably inevitable even for the most
disciplined educator (I’d love to hear otherwise). Losing perspective is a
human error after all, and we are all human. Here’s to striving for better than
human.
