Kids Really Do Say the Darndest Things

Trying to get my
Seven-year-olds to pronounce
"Phuket" is priceless.

I teach a class that alternates between a different country and situational context. Two weeks are spent learning about a country and various aspects of its culture, and the other two spent on an everyday situation or topic (such as going to the movies, or fire fighters). This week we started to learn about Thailand. Well, one of the vocabulary words happens to be Phuket (pronounced phoo-ket), one of Thailand's many beautiful islands. I'm sure the effort  I've had to exert to restrain myself from laughing in class will cause a blood vessel in my eye to burst, or something of the sort. Bill Cosby would be proud.
