Happy Humpday Haiku #30
The Beginning of the End of the Beginning
Indeterminate
Life choices brood gloomily
On the horizon.
Without question my time in Korea has been fruitful, both socially and professionally. The people (and characters) I've come to know are gems I wish I had found earlier, and the experience teaching has provided has been invaluable in establishing a presence in the classroom as well as managing a dozen distinct personalities. I haven't had this much fun observing distinct characters and all their intricacies since I was reading five books simultaneously in college.
Yet a reality has set in within the last day or so: I've passed my halfway mark. At least, I've passed the halfway mark on my current contract. Already I find my friends posting vacancies at their respective institutions that will need to be filled come March 2015. The question then is whether or not to stay. It almost seems comical to have spent only 6 months here and to start thinking about either making plans to head home or continue on Korea. Me thinks, as so many have put it to me, that this Honeymoon Phase has begun its descent from Cloud 9. I'll see you when I get back to Earth.
