Cosmic Evolution

I am thankful for
Everything that has ever
Happened to this point.

Poet Muriel Rukeyser once said "The world is not made up of atoms; it's made up of stories" And yet, what is the greatest story of the world? What is the single most significant story that can account for the world? Is it not the atom? Is the fact that we are, that everything is, all made out of atoms? Is that not incredible? How seemingly unlikely anything we attribute to conscious existence could be made possible, could manifest itself over the lifespan of the universe. Yet here we are. An endless ascension of intermediate phases in a cosmic evolution. We truly are the culmination of everything that has happened to us both directly and indirectly, and both currently and before our time.
I am thankful for that. I am thankful for the family I have and the friends that I keep. I'm thankful for the job that I do and the places I travel to. I'm thankful for my lovely girlfriend whose love knows no bounds. I'm thankful for coworkers and past jobs and old friends and hard times. Especially the hard times. I'm thankful for my education, my engaged teachers and bosses and professors and mentors. I'm thankful for those that made me earn everything I ever wanted. I'm thankful for my parents and for their love and support. I'm thankful for books and books and books and books, and the endless amount of books I may never know and read. I'm thankful for the unknown and the limitations on what can be known to us. I'm thankful for Korea and becoming my third home and welcoming me with open arms. I'm thanking for everything, always, everywhere. Thank you.
