Happy Humpday Haiku #49
Keep Pushing
Don't lose your faith in
Humanity just because
Of one cocksucker.
I don't like to describe things as being 'good' or 'bad'. For one reason, the meaning behind the words almost never fully conveys an accurate rendering of your feelings. For another, in a depressing nihil-cynical approach (shocking, I'm aware), the words don't really exist. Things just happen. There are actions and consequences. To describe the outcomes as either good or bad then becomes a nonsensical statement like "Billy water catch a howdy gown," or "Shimshukery tom jiboody dough," or "I love you"
However, if you put a gun to my head and made me decide wether I thought people were inherently good or bad, I'd probably say that people are inherently good. Now, people do a whole bunch of stuff. Most of the time, the stuff those people do is to help someone else, or to help themselves. What's funny though, is that if you trace the trajectory of all a person's actions, somewhere way down the line, the consequences will have harmed someone. That's the inevitable position we're left with. Despite this inevitability of bad things happening, more often than not, it originates out of a loving and caring place. The fact that people end up doing stupid shit and fucking up a few times is a happenstance of existence.
Then there are those who have never done anything to help anyone, ever. Not even themselves. These are the cowards, the liars, the deceivers, the tricksters, the manipulators, the cheaters, the schemers. They are rotten to the core. They too are inevitable. You will come across at least one in your lifetime. They will seem unassuming. Then they will do something that will shake the very foundation of your person. Then they will exit your life, leaving you in the wake to assess the damage they've caused.
These people do a lot of damage, physically and emotionally. However, one piece of scum is not, and will never be, indicative for all humanity. There are too many people trying to help out. You cannot think in hindsight, trying to make sense of what happened. Chances are, whatever it is that the scum scums, it doesn't (nor will it ever) make sense. The only thing we can do in times like those are to move forward, and greet the next person with a smile.
