Daily Report

In all honesty,
Much of what we do is not
Noteworthy at all.

Today the teachers were asked to start filling out daily reports of their classes. Not lengthy "this-child-did-this-and-has-progressed-to-such-and-such-a-level" reports. They're more along the lines of the kind of report you would write if you had suggestions for management or if there is a reoccurring problem. Normally we would just tell the administration. Now we file reports. After filling out my first one today I began to think of my personal life and the things I do to fill the time. Then I thought about the things I used to do in my personal life to fill the time. Then I realized that I might have one or two good things happen in my day. Which is not to say that I had a bad day; but if you take away the fact that work keeps you busy, what are you left with? Do your days start to look the same?
A favorite author of mine wrote once that it was the people who can work through the mundane who are the true heroes in this world, because they alone are brave enough to withstand the mutiny of the tedious and repetitive. Thankfully that day hasn't come yet for me.
